Sunrise

This hand-built raku-fired vessel is shaped by flame as much as by hand. Soft, undulating walls carry layers of smoke, fire and glaze, creating a surface that moves between burnt orange, inky black, bright reds, and subtle hints of blue. 

A one-of-a-kind sculptural object, this vessel stands beautifully on its own, inviting close inspection and rewarding it with detail, depth and the unmistakable character of raku.

Though not typically functional to hold water, the interior has been coated to make this a fully functional vase, yet has plenty of character to sit as an art piece all on it's own.
